Getting my shit together is painful and dangerous!
So I took up Craig Harper’s challenge to get my shit together ( I can’t believe how many times I have blogged the word shit this week LOL)
I had planned to start yesterday anyway, but I don’t think I would have lasted too long..so hopefully this will help to keep me going.
For my Birthday 2 weeks ago, I bought myself a bike. I had been nagging for one for weeks. Finally he took me to get one, got a great bargain and he go one too. It was very pretty, purple and not to girly looking. He went to put it together, the pedals were missing, and BOTH wheels were buckled..grr. So there was no Birthday morning bike cruising. So by the time we stuffed around waiting for the mechanic to come in and fix it, then I decided I didn’t want to wait and got this one instead.
If I was going to be embarking on this new bike riding lark..I was going to need some tunes (music to drown out the people laughing perhaps) My beloved iriver wasn’t going to cut it. While it’s great for using at home..I had not realised how HUGE it was. So I bought a baby iriver..how cute is it!
I didn’t think I would be able to love another the same, but it really has grown on me (once I worked out how to stop my boobs from changing the song!) So I was all set for some cycling!
I also bought something for AFW for my birthday, but that’s a surprised..and you’ll just have to wait.
I went for my first ride yesterday, wasn’t that joyful…NOT!. It isn’t at all like I remembered it. Since when did riding a bike get so bloody hard, and why don’t I live in a suburb that is flat! I haven’t ridden since I was about 13, I was smart and got a horse instead.
The first 20mins wasn’t too bad, I was riding in the park behind the kids school (thankfully everyone is in class..how embarrassment would that be!) So riding along, listening to some Plain white T’s (just loving them atm), minding my own business. Out the corner of my eye I saw a shadow, then I felt something hit my helmet..what the? I look up and it’s a magpie, swooping and pecking like something possessed and I’m sure she was swearing her head off too. The faster I rode, the worse she got! I thought she was going to chase me all the way home. Managed to lose her, and get home in one piece. Mental note not to go that way again..but tell Jake it’s a nice ride down that way *hehe*
Went out again today, really didn’t want to. I have ridden horses, and bareback..but that pales in comparison to the pain this little seat has cause, and it’s not only my butt..if you get my drift. The legs were fine, even though they went on strike on the last hill and refused to pedal any further. I went a different way, avoiding the park..and I still was harassed by magpies. It’s been suggested I put eyes on the back on my helmet, and a balloon. Mmm yes, I can just picture that. I think I will pass!
