- Choc n Chat
Today I had a nice little get together with some Sydney girl bloggers. We meet up at Max Brenners in Parramatta for lots of chocolate and geeky chatter..it was great!
Thanks Riayn, Christie, Fern and Veronica for coming along, it was really great to meet you and chat more about your blogs/sites.
Kelley asked on Plurk last night to bring her picture along, so she could join the fun. I wasn’t able to print her out..but she she managed to make it and here she is enjoying a thick Italian hot chocolate.
Fern and I thought we would share a pizza, and decided on the Chocolate, Banana and marshmallow. Yes, it looks so gross. I am not much of a chocolate person but it really was delicious!
Yummy as it was, it was sooo super messy with melted chocolate dripping everywhere. I thought I was doing well to keep it off my clothes, but somehow managed to cover my camera instead!
We have trouble taking pics on timer with the chocolate covered camera and people were laughing at us *hehe*
Thanks again girls, it was great. I look forward to doing it again soon..and I hope we get some others to come along. Next time perhaps we could do High Tea at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth *drool*

- Plurkapalooza
Hi, my name is Leigh and I am a plurkoholic!
The interweb is a buzz with the newest microblogging/social network offering, Plurk. If you haven’t tried it out, you really should. For me, it has to be the best social tool to hit the net in years, it is fantastic!
I tried pownce when it first came out and it didn’t grab me. Gave twitter a go recently and didn’t feel too comfy there either.
So what exactly is plurk? For those familiar with social networks, it is a bit of a twitter clone, but there are also a lot of differences. It’s a super hybrid of IM, forums, chatrooms all rolled into something new and nifty. It can be a bit confusing once you start out, but you jump in and pick it up quickly.
The long weekend in Australia saw a huge influx of users and activities and a nice little community has been developing. Not really intentional, but the majority of the friends I have added on there are Aussies. But I am loving having a wide range of people with similar interests to interact with.
Being fairly new, and with the API only just recently released, there aren’t too many tools for Plurk. There is Top Plurk users, which ranks users (though it seems a little borked, with a few people missing) using location tags so you can see where you rank by karma. My karma with graph your karma. Plurkiverse and Plurkable is a good place for news and info. And there is also a Plurk Firefox sidebar addon. There is even a Plurk wallpaper for those suitable addicted.
What other Aussies are saying about Plurk..
So come on, you know you want to..come and give Plurk a try!
Edit to ad: Kelley has blogged yet again about the fun of plurk. I know nothing about what she is talking about..she was a bit pissed and confused I think LMAO

- Get Firefox..now!
You are all using and loving Firefox already, right? ‘Cause if your not…what the hell are you thinking?
Ditch that nasty Internet Explorer, you won’t regret it!Today is the official release for Firefox 3. The folks at Mozilla are hoping to set a World record for having the most downloads of a piece of software in a 24 hour period.
Downloaded the new Firefox first thing this morning. I had resisted the urge to try out the beta and wait till today. I was a little nervous, I don’t like change, and was worried a lot of my addons would no longer work.
Been using it a few hours now, and I am really liking it. Lost one of my main addons, Colorzilla, but hopefully there will be something new to replace it soon.
There are tons of great new features in FF3, one of the main ones is the speed. You will noticed a big difference in the speed of your browsing once you upgrade.
So what are you waiting for..hop to it and download it now, join over 2million other users who have downloaded it already today!

- The powerpoint
As promised on plurk.. are you plurking, no?? For god sake why not?!? (no Mum, you cannot plurk)..here is the powerpoint, have zipped it up if you want to have a looky.
Hayden got an assignment, do a presentation on a planet, follow these questions on the sheet bla bla bla..sweet. He got it about 6 weeks go, we had plenty of time, if we hadn’t have forgotten all about it till the last week. Seemed easy enough, we could knock it over pretty quickly. He decided he wanted to do Saturn. You had to do a 2min talk, and a presentation of your choice. Like a model (yeah right) or a poster, which is what he wanted to do. I was picturing how poxy that was going to look, but what ever. So we went out to buy cardboard and some glitter to prettify it and such. I was getting shitty ‘cause I couldn’t find the coloured cardboard, glitter and stars I wanted to make it look like the one in my head. He then informs me we could have done a powerpoint presentation… You tell me this now! Surely we can cope much better with something puter related rather than crafty.
Generally, I hate powerpoints with.a.passion, most if not all I have ever seen are hideous. I don’t care how much you tell me it is very cute, or very funny. I don’t believe you and I am not opening it.
Never made one before in my life, but he said he knew what he was doing. After spending the rest of Saturday downloading a free trial of office as I generally just use Google docs, we were set.
So we managed to get it done. He was pleased with it, I was pleased he was pleased with it..but personally thought it was a little lacking. Of course I told he it was fan bloody tastic. But I guess it was better than the poxy arse poster had any hope of being.
The problem I have always had with homework and such is how much are you suppose to help them? I never know. Do you let them do the whole thing themselves without any help at all? That seems cruel for the average kid.
