Update on Stasia

Thank you so much for all the messages, emails, DMs and txt off support for Anastasia, it is very much appreciated :)

We went to visit her this afternoon, and she is feeling a lot better. We could hear her from the front desk. She has been in full swing all afternoon. The vet nurse laughed and said they didn’t mind…but you could tell she was lying *hehe*

We opened the cage and she leapt onto manpet and was snuggling into his neck purring and happy feet. She actually put 2 holes in his shirt in her excitement.

She was none too pleased that we put her back in the cage, and started screaming and chewing at her bandage and IV. So we left the poor vet nurse to deal with her. (clicky through for embedded video)

Hopefully she will be well enough to come home tomorrow. Even if we have to give her fluids at home, I don’t really like the idea of her staying on a public holiday.

We’re still not if she is out of the woods or if the fluids are just masking the problem. We’ll wait and see how she goes.

The boys are missing her terribly (gemini doesn’t seem too fussed LOL) there is a lot more room in the cat bed tho.

Think we need a bigger cat bed

Featured Blogger- Chocolatesuze

This weeks featured blogger is Susan Thye from Chocolatesuze.

When did you start your blog?chocolatesuze
I started my blog 1 week before the HSC in 2001. I was looking for a distraction from my studies and oh boy did i find it!

Why did you start blogging?
At first it was an outlet for my thoughts, rants and everyday teenager ramblings. At the time there weren’t many blogs in Australia and then I found Grab Your Fork and I became fascinated with food blogs. And so my personal blog slowly turned into a food focused blog with friends and family posts popping up every now and then.

Describe your blog in 20 words or less
Amused easily with giant and mini foods. Will travel for 32cm tall soft serve icecreams and 2kg ramen challenges.

What are your 5 must have tools for blogging?
A can of Mother energy drink, my trusty Canon EOS 500D, MacBook, Photoshop, Textpattern

What is your favourite part of being a blogger?
The feeling of being in a community, connecting with people with similar interests even if they’re halfway across the world. I love how food brings people together. Everyone has an opinion on food and it is a passionate topic that can spark furious debates over where the best dumplings or the tastiest gelato can be found.

What would be the biggest thing you have learnt since starting your blog?
Being aware that absolutely anyone could be reading my blog. HELLO MOTHER!

If you could start again, what would you do differently?
I would probably not have written every single thought that floated through my mind. Reading my early entries are extremely cringe-worthy but it is interesting to look back and see how my style of writing and photo taking has changed over the years.

What has been your blog’s biggest achievement?
Writing a post that won me a free trip and accommodation to Singapore!

What advice would do you have for new chick bloggers?
Support the blogger community and leave comments on posts, maybe an occasional email to introduce yourself. Make sure you have an About Me section with contact details so people can get in touch with you. Personalise your blog layout to make it different from other blogs out there and try to not pick a website name that is similar to others. Don’t worry about a blogging schedule but try and keep posts regular-it is better if you post twice a week than to post 10 posts in 1 day and not write new material for the rest of the month.

Do you (or do you plan to) make any income from your blog?
I’m with Nuffnang for ads to help with the costs of my blog hosting and domain. It would be nice to make an income but it’s not too important to me as I bake fulltime and my blog is just a hobby.

What future goals do you have for your blog?
I would love to travel and blog about food from different countries. Particularly snack foods. And candy. I love candy. My favourite part of travelling overseas is going to the local supermarket and checking
out the range of candy available.

Who are your 5 favourite chick bloggers and why?
Helen from Grab Your Fork (grabyourfork.blogspot.com) is the reason my blog turned into a food focussed blog and we have become close friends online and in real life.

Trish from Tealily Photography (http://www.tealilyphotography.com) takes the most gorgeous photos ever, whimsical and always filled with love.

Sonya from the Matchbox Project (http://www.blurty.com/users/matchboxproject) inspires me with her love of spreading happiness in a matchbox.

Sun Ann from Quaintly.net (http://quaintly.net) is quirky and cute, a Malaysian girl writing about university life in the States.

Robyn from The Girl Who Ate Everything (http://www.roboppy.net/food) has an offbeat sense of humour and writes the craziest descriptions of food and loves all things pork.

FebuSave Blog Ambassador Program

ANZ is embarking on a new and exciting campaign just for women in the new year, FebuSave.fus

FebuSave aims to encourage Australian women to start saving towards their goals. A month where savings habits can be developed in a fun challenge within an online community of other women. Bringing fun and humour to the art of saving, a community site will be launched  where we can all share what we are giving up to get to our goals. It may be, not splashing out on clothes or simply giving up coffee and chocolate. Within this community it is hoped Australian women will feel supported in this challenge and not feel isolated by their financial predicament.

ANZ are looking to invite leading female bloggers into an Ambassador program along side other Women bloggers PolkaDot Bride, Ask Her, Kate Carruthers, Australian Women online and moi, to be part of the campaign that will help educate Australian women to save money in February.

Would you be interested in becoming a FebuSave Ambassador and helping Australian women become more money confident?

I agreed to become part of the campaign after seeing some of the stats. Pretty scary right?

  • 52% of women claimed they know they should have a financial plan or budget in place but keep putting it off.
  • Less than one third of women surveyed said they were very confident about managing everyday finances.
  • Only one in ten women are very confident in managing their investments, financial planning and superannuation.
  • 45% said they had saved less than they planned to over the previous 12 months.
  • 2.76 million women (41%) are saving no regular amount monthly.
  • Top reasons were too many bills, not disciplined to follow a budget, too busy, so put it off.
  • More than half (58%) of adult women in Australia have less than $5,000 in savings with 33% having less than a $1,000.
  • 1 in 3 women believe they wouldn’t last longer than a month if they lost their job tomorrow.
  • 1 in 4 women are not at all confident about their future financial security, claiming they live pay to pay with little savings.

I am excited to be a part of the FebuSave campaign. I know myself, I am unable to save at all. I also worry about what money habits I am passing on to my children. So I am looking forward to setting up some new savings habits and helping other women along the way.

What are we asking our Ambassadors to do?

Some of the things ANZ is asking Ambassadors to do during the campaign will be recruit other female bloggers to the ambassador program. As well as share your own personal account of savings and what FebuSave means to your blog subject for example:

  • Saving for a Wedding
  • Saving for your first home
  • Making presents from crafts as opposed to buying them
  • Financial tips
  • Shopping on a budget
  • Household budget planning

We seem to be happy to discuss in intimate detail so many other aspects of our life, yet money seems to be such a taboo subject. So many women seem to be struggling with money management, yet are unable to find or ask for help and advice. I hope FebuSave will help break down these barriers and allow women to assist each other in reaching they financial goals.

If you would like to become part of this campaign, contact me for more details.

And yes, for those asking, a list update is on the way in the new year as well ;)
