Come at me bro

Hayden started Muay Thai kickboxing about 6mths ago. We started him earlier this year in the hopes of building his confidence and further help in his fight against bullies. Not literally mind you. Well..maybe a little I wish that just once, he would give some little dead shit a taste of what it’s like.

Hayden has had an issue with bullies for most of his school life. It got to the point where we even had to change schools, because they were just beyond hopeless at dealing with the problem and we’d had enough. Not saying he asks for it, but he just seems to be a bit of a bully magnet. Things haven’t been as bad in the last few years.

But moving to high school this year, little fish in a big pond and all that..he has had some issue. But thanks to his training and advice from his trainer he has been able to deal with things a lot better.

He’s been loving his boxing and training. It has been a great boost to his confidence. He has picked it up really quickly. Getting a lot of praise from his trainer about how well he is doing, and the muscle he is putting on doesn’t hurt the confidence either ;)

Just had his second grading today. Passed with all A’s and now moved to Orange. This week he is also moving into an adults class. He is a bit too big and powerful for the little kids. While many of the kids are his age, he towers over them. Some he is twice their size, which makes in near impossible to train properly with them. He’s 12.

Good work mate! You still can’t beat Mum though ;)

Caturday: Spitty Kitty

The cat formerly know as Gemini. Since the puppies moved in, she is now spitty or spitty kitty.

I didn’t realise cats could actually spit, like they do in the cartoon. Wow…she is good at it! Only at the dogs, and it isn’t very often anymore. They get the message real quick.

Finally have a picture to join rah and her Caturday thing

Android Iconia Tab I Heart You, Even if You Smell Like Hospital

I’ve wanted a tablet ever since the first iPad was released. As much as I am an Apple girl, I really have fallen out of love with their mobile products. While the iPads looked great, they seemed to be lacking some features that I thought were pretty important..like USB…why on earth would it NOT have usb? And since ditching my iPhone for android about 12mths ago,  Android is my new bitch.

Finally a few weeks ago I found a tab that ticked all the boxes for me.

Part of me was worried that maybe my overwhelming need for new toys was the only reason I just HAD to have one, and that after a few days I wouldn’t really use it. But I find I am using it more than my laptop most days.

My main puter at home is my laptop, so all my work is done from it…usually while laying on the lounge or in bed :P I also use my phone a lot as well for email, twitter, facebook checking etc. But it’s handy to have something in between. I can answer some emails, do some basic site/server maintenance without opening up my laptop and being sucked into a 2hr black hole. Can do a quick 5min check here and there without waiting a few minutes for my laptop to unsleep (sure it’s a word)

Meet my new baby, an Acer Iconia android tablet.

Love everything about it so far..well just about everything.

Not being an iPad, getting covers and such can be a bit difficult. The only case available is a genuine Acer cover, does the job I guess. But one major draw back is, it smell like hospital. And for someone who has a bit of an issue with smell, I do need to remove the cover before snuggling up in bed with it.

So, other than that…it is awesome!

Even the kids agree, well, from what they can tell in the 5mins I have left them actually touch it.

But this is the best use I have found. It fits perfectly on the ledge on the treadmill, a session of Angry Birds soon turns into 40mins clocked up on the treadmill without even noticing!

And just for fun…check out my super cute cupcake Android…it even smells like vanilla!

Disclaimer: I bought this tab all by myself, I wasn’t paid for this post..crazy I know!

Bye Bye Blogchicks

Sadly, I have decided to close down Blogchicks.

Although I still believe in the wonderful list and community that I once created. Something where everyone was welcome no matter your niche. The stress and disappointment of trying to find someone to help program/code a new list was just too much, and I have decided for my own sanity to walk away. The pangs of guilt every time I got an email from an excited blogger asking to be added to the list.

Promised by so many that they would help, only to be let down. Lost a lot of money to a lovely indian coder named Bill.

Thank you to everyone for their support over the years. I am going to keep a copy of the list here for posterity, and it still gives out some nice traffic for a lot of the bloggers.

I am slowly trying to get back to my blogging happy place. Back to basics, before all the ads and contracts and stress. I have missed it. I am not cut out for all this grown up blogging.
