Calling All Sydney Bloggers

Little Bloggy Blood Drive If you are Sydney Blogger, we want your blood!

I have only recently started giving blood in the last 18mth because of one super amazing little girl, Ivy..and her fabulous Mum. You can read their story, if you haven’t already at My Three RIng Circus.

I am the 1 in 3 Australians who will need blood products in their life time. But did you know only 1 in 30 currently give it?

The wonderful Liz has set out on a mission to get us all donating regularly.

Join us on the 30th April at Town Hall Donor Centre!

If you are:

  • Available on Saturday, April 30 2011;
  • Eligible to donate blood (You can also ask a Medical Officer if you have any questions or concerns by calling 13 14 95)
  • Able to make your way to the Town Hall Donor Centre in Sydney City; and
  • Want to be apart of some kick-ass life saving action……join our event page here!

You don’t have to be a blogger to join in.

And don’t worry if you can’t make it, or you aren’t in Sydeny. ‘Sydney Blogging Community’ is now registered on Club Red Online – an online donation tracking program which tallies how many donations are made. You can now join this group for your blood donations to automatically be added to the tally, even if you’re unable to make the group donation event!

When you join it will ask you to enter your donor ID – if you’re a new donor you’ll need to wait until after your first donation to join the group. Click here to join! The ‘Organisation or group name’ is Sydney Blogging Community.

So, want to join us on April 30? Sign yourself up here. And don’t forget to help spread the word! You can check out Liz’s blog for more info Lizosaurus

Sydney Bloggers Meet at Lindt Cafe

[retweet]Rah and Liz have already posted a round-up, so go check out their post. After reading mine of course! Thanks to major server and DNS issues, I am a bit slow ;)  I nearly divorced the internet today, but that is a whole other post.

It has been awhile since we have had a Sydney Bloggers Meet. Thanks to the fabulous Danimezza, we had an awesome meet at the Lindt Cafe Darling Harbour who were wonderful hosts by the way, the staff were amazing! All thanks to Nuffnang for sponsoring the event.

I went home on a sugar high, I have never consumed so much sweet stuff in one sitting IN MY LIFE..and I defiantly woke up with a sugar hangover today. It was certainly worth it, yummies and great company as well.

There were macaroons…SOOO many macaroons. I was pleased that there were quite a few of us how were macaroon virgins. My fav was the strawberry..nom! That was until I got home and found there were hot cross bun macaroons in our goodie bag, they were even better!

Cake!

Cookies and Cream ice cream was AWESOME!

Of course, there were lots of pics..it took a few minutes of snapping before anyone was allowed to touch the food ;)

There were goodie bags and bunny ears to take home. Can you spot the special bunny with their ears on backwards, thanks Rah!

Thanks again to Danimezza, the Lindt Cafe Darling Harbour and Nuffnang…and of course all the wonderful girls for coming along and making a great evening. Can’t wait for the next one!

I think I’ve Lost my Voice

blink,blink,blink…..the cursor flashes in the stark add new post box. Ceiling cat knows how many times I have sat here staring at it lately (or fallen a sleep face first into my laptop..which is exactly what happened last night).

I’ve made plenty of posts in my head, but I just can’t seem to get them out…I just don’t seem to have the words. Even posting this has taken 2 days.

The last 12mths interneting (it is too a word!) has been hard. Starting full-time work..juggling that and 3 kids is tough. And spending all day at work online, and working on sites and content…it can be the last thing you want to do when you get home. So other than a bit of surfing, shopping and tweeting, I’ve neglected [tooltip text="All for Women"]every[/tooltip] [tooltip text="Blog Chicks"]thing[/tooltip].

I lost my rhythm, my nerve, my confidence. Always second guessing, and talking myself out of posting this or that. And I just feel down right lazy.

It’s not that I don’t want to..I just don’t know how to get my voice and my motivation back…is it even possible?

Everyone makes it looks so easy, I remember when it was that easy. So why was has it become so painfully hard?

I set my desk buddy Cameron up blogging a few months ago, he is going great guns. I want to punch him, more than usual, when I see him bash out a post in 10mins..sometimes even 2.

I feel a bit of a fraud calling myself a blogger these days.

How do you know when it’s time to give up?

I love this poster, but I can’t work out which side I am on.

Reading back over this post, sounds a lot like excuses thought…doesn’t it.

Have you ever lost your blogging voice, did you find it again?

New Year-New Name

Ok, so it is the 2nd week of the new year..I’m a bit slow.

I didn’t do any of the whole new years resolutions, because really…as if they work. And to be honest, there isn’t all that much I want to change. I have an amazing husband, kids, a house and job I love…..life is pretty damn good.

Yes, there is the fat thing..but that is every year LOL

We have started a new Bloggest Loser Challenge BTW, and set up a Facebook group to really get stuck into it this year. Let me know if you would like to join!

Of course there are some other things I need to work on, and sure I have some goals. But rather than making grand plans and announcements, that always seem to be setting myself up for failure..I’m just going to go with the flow.

I have thought about a name change for a while now, I have had the domain for nearly 2 years. I have used the crazymeezer username for EVERYTHING, and the domain for nearly 6yrs now. When online life is a huge part of who you are, your username is your second identity. Cause I know you’re all thinking…wtf..is she just going on about changing her username…who cares :P

But I was sick of it, people can’t say it, they can’t spell it….even when you spell it out and they don’t get what it means.  (Perhaps saying no one is really a cover for Jake who could never spell it properly even after 6yrs…which is a little ironic seeing as he has gifted me such a god awful surname that no one at all can spell no matter how many times you spell it out. And trying to spell it out to people in person or over the phone was a nightmare. ) And it just didn’t feel like me any more.

I had put it off for a while, as my desired Twitter name was taken (yes, of course the world revolves around twitter usernames) Hoping the person, or twitter would delete the inactive account, without any luck.

So Sunday, on a whim..I thought stuff it, lets just do it! The domain name has now changed to www.absoluteleigh.com.au, I have changed my twitter name absolute_leigh (damn underscores) so it’s official!
