RSPCA Cupcake Day

Grab your mixing bowl, dust off your chef’s hat and get ready to bake up a storm for the RSPCA because Monday 16 August 2010 is Cupcake Day.

Last year 350,000 cupcakes were baked around the country and this year the RSPCA is hoping that even more people take part in this yummy fundraiser.

Getting involved in Cupcake Day is deliciously easy. Head to www.rspcacupcakeday.com.au – its’ free to register and there are loads of great recipes, tips and party ideas, or download ‘The Ultimate Cupcake Day Guide’ for the best Cupcake Day ever!

Last year $1.1 million was raised across Australia and this year the RSPCA is hoping to raise $2.5 million but they need your assistance. “Every year the RSPCA cares for over 155,000 animals and as we receive less than 2% of in government funding, we rely on the community to continue,” said RSPCA NSW CEO Steve Coleman.

To help the RSPCA continue their fight against animal cruelty please Choose Wisely and bake cupcakes only using eggs from RSPCA Approved or cage-free farming systems. This way you’re raising much-needed funds for the RSPCA and helping to get hens out of cages too! And the cherry on top is that for every $100 raised online you’ll receive an entry into the draw to win two Kymco Scooters (valued over $7,500).

Help the RSPCA make Monday 16 August 2010 the sweetest day of the year. If you can’t be involved on this date, you can still hold your Cupcake Day Party at any time during the month of August 2010.

Register now at www.rspcacupcakeday.com.au and help the RSPCA continue their fight against animal cruelty.

New Babeh!

I feel kinda guilty being excited about a new puppy. It has been over 10yrs since we’ve had the joy of a puppy, so it is hard not to be. But being only a month since we lost Sasha..it feels a little wrong.

It has been unbearably empty here with out her, without any dog at all. I still haven’t been into the backyard (I don’t use the clothes line remember :P ) and the yearning for a baby had become overwhelming for both of us.

So we started looking around for some breeds and breeders…just looking. We wanted something small that we could have inside always, get on with or at least not eat the kitteh and that we could take out and about in the car. We had thought a pug could be good, ticked all the boxes..and I do have an attraction to cute but ugly. I would really love a French Bulldog, or Boston Terrier…but it will take some further bribing to warm him up to a $3000 dog ;)

We visited a few breeders, one was down right awful, and others didn’t have what we wanted. We went to another Sunday, not expecting much.

The wife was into the pugs, and the husband.. Australian Bulldogs. While the kids and I played with the itty bitty pugs the men folk got talking and the next thing we are off to look at the bulldogs…and I guess you can see where this is going.

I think Jake was in love the moment the kennel door opened and out spilled 5 fat little puppies. Then the way he looked at me like an excited 5yr old asking can we please have one of these instead. He has really been missing Stasia, she was such a Daddy’s girl..the other meezers aren’t that into him. How could I say no?

Her name is Sookie, which must be said with a Bill Compton-ish southern accent. I really wanted the boy puppy, so I could call him Eric, tho it doesn’t seem too appropriate for a bulldog.

He rings me 3-4 times a day, to see what ‘I’ am doing..which really means what is my baby doing :P

Yes, lots of sleepy pics. She is a baby after all (an 8.7kg baby!). And you can’t beat that sleepy puppy smell, right? She seems to only have two speeds, full pelt crazy and sleepy.

The baby shopping is going to send me broke.

new jammies

No, they are not cat scratches on her nose..yet ;) . They are from her brothers and sister sharp little puppy teeth.

Borked tail..sia-manx?

large ceramic bowl+cat tail= ouch :(

Poor Gemini. The kids were feeding the cats on Sunday night, the bowl fell off the bench and onto her tail.

Thankfully our vet was open yesterday. Poor baby has a huge gash in her tail which needed a few stitches, and we’ll just have to wait and see about the other damage…she may end up losing half of her tail.

She was running around crazy purring and rubbing herself on everyone and thing yesterday till the local wore off, then she was pretty miserable and in a lot of pain. She is a lot happier today, and amazingly hasn’t pulled her stitches out yet, tho not for lack of trying.

Fingers crossed the tails heals up enough for her to keep it.

Poor Babeh :(

Pampered Cats Playground

I think it’s safe to say we are very much team cat here at That’s Noice. Sure, dogs are great too..but nothing beats a kitteh..or 5.

But I think our feline family can be a little left out when it comes to shopping, especially in Australia. So many sites and products for dogs…what about the cats!

I recently came across Pampered Cats Playground and immediately placed an order. They have a great range of everything you need for your cats, but my favourite section was the toys.

2 toys the meezers and I thoroughly recommend is the….

Da Bird, This is the best cat toy EVER (well, apart from bugs and carboard boxes) It is a feather attachment on the end of a long stick that you wave about. Doesn’t sounds too exciting, does it? But when you move the feathers, they spin and ‘fly’ looking and sounding a bit like a real bird. We have had quite a few of these over the years. If you aren’t careful in hiding it, they will find it and trash it. I have had trouble finding them, due to the issues with feathers and Customs. Great price at $14, plus you can buy a bunch of different attachments for $5.

Dr Noys Swizzle Stick Another thing on a stick that induces aerial acrobatics, and sometimes some growling.

So check out Pampered Cats Playground (look past the site design) a great Aussie site for cat goodies, service was super friendly and fast.
