So I decided to take ANOTHER crack at this 365 thing. I’m not into pics of myself, and the food I make is way too boring and awful to inflict on people (tho I am sure these pics are just as boring LOL)
Last year I really enjoyed looking back at the pictures I took, so hoping to get a little further in than the 130 or so like last year. And hoping to get a few more family pictures (of course that includes kittehs!)
And yes, I know there aren’t 31 pics there…a few pics I set to private…just cause I can
How is it that my 10 year old baby boy is about 10cm off being taller than me?
How is it my 10yr old baby boy is wearing men’s size 8 shoes? Yes, this is him wearing his Dad’s (well I can’t tell you what I call them when a 10yr old is wearing them ) boots? I’ve told him that by the time he is 14, he is going to have to start shopping at the clown shoe shop..perhaps that will end up not as crazy as it sounds.
How is it my 10yr old baby boy is also wearing men’s clothing? Won’t be long and he will be stealing Dad’s shoes and clothes too.
How is it my 10yr old baby boy is going away on camp in a week…forĀ THREE DAYS and 2 WHOLE NIGHTS?
How the hell did all that happen? He’s just a baby!
So did you read the first part? You can’t skip ahead you know!
So after the super yummy dinner it was time to jump on the bus for the night tour.
First stop was the Lions, Jasiri and his girls. He acted like a sweet little pussy cat showing off for morsels of roo. Even showing off with a bit of a roaring match with his ladies.
Next we stopped by the Manned Wolf, Suzie the Wombat and the Hippos. Bit hard to take pictures in the dark. The manned wolf was a little easier to smell than see, but Suzie was happy to come say hello for a pat and some sweet potato.
Back to our tent for the night. It had a heated floor that was amazing, we all sat around the floor for awhile warming our arses and Hayden decided he was sleeping on the floor.
Up early for showers and ready for the last tour at 7am.
Breakfast with a black rhino, he was just gorgeous. Happily sucking in his favourite branches from anyone and everyone.
We then stopped by to meet and feed a Bongo and then the Cheetahs.
Last, but certainly not least was the African Elephant girls Yum Yum and Cuddles just back from their stroll around the park and doing their morning health checks.
We then made our way back to the lodge for breakfast and checkout. We spent a few more hours checking out the rest of the animals at the zoo..and then headed home.
We had an amazing time on Zoofari…highly recommend it, just awesome!

This week, as part of the Renault Koleos campaign I have running at All for Women (have you entered the competition to win a new laptop?) we set off on a trip to Dubbo Zoo.
Will split this in to 2 posts, too many lame tourist family holiday snaps that no one is really interested for one post
We took the long way there through Bathurst, had to do the full bogan thing and visit Mount Panorama. Course we both had to do a lap around each, the kids were most disappointed in the 60km/hr speed limit, but honestly, in places even that is way to fast. Looks nothing like it does on TV, how they do it without crapping their pants every lap I do not know!
Arrived in Dubbo with just enough time to wash the ginormous bugs from the Koleos before check in time for our Zoofari adventure.
The Zoofari lodge is tucked away right at the back of the park, by the time we drove round there we had just enough time to put our stuff in our “tent”, order our dinner and meet the bus for our first tour. You can check out the post on That’s Noice for more details on Zoofari.
First stop our behind the scenes tour was the Sumatran Tigers (I am so bad with remembering names) just as they were being let into their night dens. Wednesday was fasting day (maybe I need to give that a go?) but the keepers had left a new enrichment activity for them, so we got to watch them, from about 3m away attacking large plastic drums hanging form the roof to find the noms. Tigers are a big fav in our family, it was amazing to see them so close up.
Next stop was the Wild Dogs. Must admit, I had never seen or heard of these guys before. But there were really interesting, and such beautiful markings. Keepers waited for us to arrive for feeding time, so we could see the pack and their “peep rally” in full swing. WOW..noisy! Check out a short video clip.
Then we stopped by the Meerkats, damn those little buggers are so cute..love them! Our guide had some tasty treats for them to entice them over to say hello to us.
She saved the best for last for the afternoon tour, we stopped by the large savannah exhibit, with a toot toot of the mini bus horn and one of the 4 boys started to mosey on over to us. Isn’t he gorgeous?! I think his name was Jerry.
We all had a go at feeding him some carrots, and having our hand covered in Giraffe slobber. The kids couldn’t wipe the grin of their face for the rest of the evening.
Next was dinner, OMG the food was beautiful! Lovely 3 course meal. I even did the whole food blogger thing…I generally don’t have the guts to whip the camera out for food pics in a restaurant.
After dinner we went out on the night tour, stay tuned for part 2…..
Last weekend we took the Koleos for a trip up the Central Cost to visit Jake’s sister.
While we were there, we took the kids for a bit of sand boarding, they had a ball. Tho I am not sure who had more fun, Daddy..or the kids. Of course I had a go…HA like I am going to show you those pics!
Blogging is so handy for not having to repeat a story a cajillion times for everyone that asks (thank you to everyone that has asked how she went )
Yesterday Katelyn had an appointment at Westmead to have some dental surgery.
I was very nervous about the fasting, this kid is food obsessed like you would not believe. I was expecting lots of tears all day when she could not eat more than a light breakfast and nothing else after 6:30am. Not once did she mention that she was hungry!
She wasn’t nervous at all, was actually excited. I don’t think she really understood what was going to happen. Must be nice to not terrified of going to the dentist like the rest of us.
I was expecting a huge wait when we got there, but it wasn’t too bad. There were 4 other kids that were being done on the afternoon list. We checked in last, so I thought we would be there for hours.
Waited about an hour and a half to be admitted. We got dressed in our super attractive gowns and taken through to a bed. 3 of the other kids were waiting to go in, the anaesthetist was trying to get them to take a pre med but none were keen. She was getting a bit annoyed by having to wait. I said Katelyn loves drugs, she would be happy to take it LOL She downed the the orange kids panadol and we were off…the other mothers were not so pleased by our queue jumping *hehe*
It was all over in about 45mins. They give you a pager like that use to let you know your meals ready to tell you know when they are done LOL.
She flipped out when she woke up in recovery and cried intermittently for 30mins. OMG I thought she would never shut up. I run out of caring mother patients after about 3mins of non stop crying. They wanted her to take some more pandol but she was now refusing..the more they offered the more she screamed. I tried bribing her with the ipod..but she screamed. Wishing at this point I had sent Daddy to do this job instead. She listened to some Miley Cyrus for a bit and she calmed down a little.
When they came and said she could get dressed and come and eat some jelly the eyes lit up and that was it. She inhaled the jelly, and took the pandol and hasn’t cried since. Perhaps she was only screaming cause she was starving *hehe*
She pigged out on dinner last night, eating a bunch of cold meat and pasta. She has sat an eaten a litre of Jelly this morning and hasn’t stopped bloody talking all day. Think she will be find to go to school tomorrow
